III - V boys celebrate Saudi National Day
To express solidarity with the King and the
Kingdom, III – V boys celebrated the Saudi
National Day on 25 Sept 2011.
All the preparations were decked up to mark the
occasion in a befitting manner. The stage was
decked with flags, banners, digital displays and
songs were sung conveying the greetings. The
burning of incense filled the auditorium with
smooth fragrance, created an enchanting
atmosphere and transported the participants and
audience in the mood of celebrations.
Students dressed in traditional dress, Thobe,
ghutra and iqal, waved the Saudi flag in
honour of the day’s celebrations. Participants
seated on the dais with dates, ghawa and
huqqa, a symbolic representation of
traditional Bedouin culture provided an
opportunity for the students to learn about the
history and culture of the kingdom they are
residing in.
Principal, Vice Principal and various heads of
the blocks graced the occasion. Guests were
traditionally welcomed and offered dates and
Arabian coffee.
The programme commenced with the recitation of a
few verses from the Holy Quran and Hadith,
followed by translations. The event included
speeches, presentations, songs and dance.
Students enthusiastically performed the
traditional sword dance as a part of the
National Day revelry.
The programme concluded with the singing of the
Saudi National Anthem. The students and staff
gained appreciation from the Principal for the
incredible programme and aesthetics.
