Education should be more humane, it
should include the refinement of the heart…
Dr Radha Krishnan
Schools should teach children to be humane,
rather than learned monsters. As such education needs to be
more humane in the present scenario. Teaching of facts and
figures in the classrooms alone, within the framework of the
syllabi may fail miserably in educating a child, if he or
she is not groomed to be humane.
Indeed, the utmost need of the hour is the inculcation of
the “humane” element in education. For true education is
training of both the head and the heart.
The greatest challenge today is to instill humane values in
our students, amidst innumerable undesirable external
influences. Yet our endeavor towards making education more
humane should persist.
