KG SECTION


The Annual Day for the academic year 2009-2010 was celebrated with grandeur and opulence on 25 Feb. It commenced with the bouquet presentation to the Chief Guest Mrs Suraiya Baba followed by Qirat recitation by Master Abdul Wasey and translation by Baby Amena Saleem. Mrs Ayesha Rafai, Headmistress of KG.Section delivered the welcome address. Mr Salah Karadan, Chairman of the Managing Committee addressed the gathering. H.E.Consul General of India, Mr Sayeed Ahmed Baba, members of the school management committee, Principal and other distinguished guests graced the occasion.


The Chief Guest Mrs Suraiya Baba felicitated the subject co-ordinators of Lower and Upper kindergarten with certificates.


Sara Rizwan of UKG presented the welcome speech. A variety of programmes enthralled the audience. “Nannhey Munnhey Express” took the audience on a tour of India which was a splendid amalgamation of the different folk dances of India. Fusion dance, Hindi and English musical skits enraptured the audience. The scintillating little stars of KG were cheered and applauded by all. Fatin Mohd Shafie concluded the programme with the vote of thanks.

III—V BLOCK
 

 

Boys Section:

TAMSEELI MUSHAIRA:

 

The boys of the III-V block held for the first time a Tamseeli Mushaira on 24 Jan 2010. The participants represented poets like, Aatish, Sauda, Mirza Ghalib, Mir Taqi, Allama Iqbal, Bahadur Shah Jafar, Ibrahim Zauq, etc.

TALENT SEARCH :

 

A Talent Search was organized and conducted for the students of class V for the first time. Students were given an opportunity to showcase their talents in singing, dancing etc. Many students participated in the programme and displayed their talents. This unique opportunity  enabled the students hone their skills and develop their confidence.

HINDI SKIT COMPETITION:

 

Hindi Skit Competition was held for the first time in the block. Exquisite plays full of wit, humour and satire were presented by the students. The students enthralled the audience with their performance. The teachers of the Hindi Department organized this competition among the four houses. “Kala Chor” presented by the Blue House won the Trophy.

 

 

VISHWA HINDI DIVAS
 

Vishwa Hindi Divas was celebrated on 10 Jan, 2010 in the I—XII blocks, as per the directives of the Human Resource Ministry of India. Commemorating the importance of the day, various activities were organized in the different blocks. Remarkable among them were Kavi Sammelan, Hindi Desh Bhakti Geet, Bhashan Pratiyogita, and a Quiz Competition. All the students participated with great zeal and enthusiasm.

G.K. QUIZ COMPETITION:

 

The General Knowledge Quiz Competition was held on 3 Feb. 2010. This began with a Tableau depicting the glorious Mughal Era. Students of grade VIII representing the great Mughal Kings and Queens adorned the stage with grandeur and pomp. The costumes, jewellery , architectural representations and the introduction of each King and Queen on the power point took the audience into the Mughal Era. This programme was organized by the teachers of the Social Science Department of VI– VIII bloc

HEAD GIRL QUESTIONS HILLARY CLINTON
 

The senior student cabinet of girls section had the rare opportunity to attend an interactive session with Mrs. Hillary Clinton, the Secretary of State, USA, at Dar-Al-Hekma College on 16 Feb 2010. During the session the question raised by Mariyam Alavi, the Head Girl received tremendous applause from the audience and was considered the most challenging question by the media. It was a lifetime opportunity for the Cabinet Members who participated with great enthusiasm.

READ A BOOK DAY :

To inculcate good reading habits the students of I & II were given the Lady Bird series in  class and encouraged to read. Class teachers motivated the students to read by giving them  tips for developing the love for reading. Students were asked simple questions based on their reading. 

 

LEARNING BY DOING—CRICKET MATCH

As a part of the Academic Activities carried out outside the four walls of the classroom, underlining the philosophy, “Learning by doing”, a Cricket Match was organized for the students of grade IX (GS). In order to facilitate the students to understand the practical aspect of the game, the teachers of Social Science in collaboration with the Physical Education Department organized an exciting Cricket Match on 24 Jan. 2010. The activity was based on the lesson “The Story of Cricket” in the History Text book of grade IX.
 

       SCHOOL INTRODUCES SCOUTS

As Education is the training of the body, heart and mind, in addition to the academic activities the school has taken the initiative to give its students training in Scouts (for the boys) and Guides (for the girls). During this academic session 32 students of grade IX have enrolled for the Scouts training. They are being trained for the various scout activities. The impressive parade by the scouts on the Republic Day was highly appreciated by one and all. Efforts to launch Bulbuls and Guides in the girls section is being made and students will be enrolled and trained for the Scouts and Guides from the next academic session.

Seminars and workshops have become a regular activity in IISJ. During the academic session 2009– 10 the teachers of the various blocks participated with immense enthusiasm in 7 seminars organized under the theme “Role of a Teacher in the Present Scenario”. During the third term the teachers of the VI-VIII block (GS&BS) presented a highly productive seminar on the above topic on 28 Feb. About nine teachers presented papers on various topics related to the theme of the seminar. The teachers of the IX-XII (BS) presented a seminar on the above theme on 14 March 2010.  About five teachers presented papers on various topics on the theme.

Model Lessons  a unique activity organized for professional enrichment & growth of the teaching staff was yet another achievement of this academic year. These model lessons presented by the teachers, were carried out successfully over the academic year in the various blocks of I & II, III-V and VI-VIII (GS&BS). The final phase of model lessons was conducted successfully during the month of March.

Vertical Meetings: Subject Coordinators conducted meetings with the teachers of their departments ( I—XII)  and discussed the common errors, areas of difficulty, bridge courses etc.

Recordable Achievement by IISJ Boys : The under 16 years Inter School Cricket Tournament was conducted by Western Province Cricket Association in the month of Feb 2010.

The Final Match was played between IISJ vs Hala International School. The nail biting finish concluded with a tie. In order to break the tie a Super Over was played after which IISJ was declared the Runner Up.

Based on the performance in the above tournament, the Saudi Arabian Cricket Board has selected under 16 years Cricket Team for Saudi Arabia to participate in the Asian Cricket Council Elite Cup for Ten countries being held at Kathmandu, Nepal from 8 to 18 March 2010.

The following students have been selected as part of the team representing the KSA Cricket Team:

These students were coached by Mr. Ghouse Mohiuddin, senior P.Ed Teacher.

IISJ GOES HI TECH

 

 In order to augment Teaching Methodology and to provide its students with an exciting and fun filled learning experience the school has installed Interactive Smart Boards in KG section and I & II blocks (GS & BS). Teachers of the above mentioned blocks were trained to use the board effectively in their day to day teaching in the classrooms. Presently the above mentioned blocks have one board each and during the next academic session all the classrooms of KG and I & II blocks will have the smart boards.
 

STUDENTS SEMINAR

Keeping in tune with the activities carried out in the senior blocks, the students of Science Stream presented a Seminar on “Environmental Chemistry” & the students of the Commerce Stream presented a seminar on “International Trade”. Under the guidance of their mentors these students presented power point presentations on various aspects related to the topics and kept the audience spellbound with the expertise of their delivery of presentations.
 

IISJ GIRLS JOIN “MOCK UN CLUB”

Introduction of Mock UN club was held on 17 March, 2010 in the girls section auditorium. Student representatives from Dar-Al-Hekma college gave a brief presentation to the students of grade XII on the various activities of the MUN club. IISJ has been registered as a member of the club and the registration of students under the aegis of Dar-Al-Hekma college is under progress. Members of MUN will be given training through workshops and traning sessions as to how to present themselves as UN members and represent a country (any country) and speak on behalf of the country. They will be trained to debate on a topic and get a resolution passed in the Mock UN session

BOOKS AT HIGHLY
CONCESSIONAL RATE

 

The school arranged for supply of text books for classes KG to XII at a highly concessional rate. Prescribed note books for classes KG to II and Record books for IX—XII are also being supplied to classes. In order to facilitate the parents to pay for the books two counters were set at the Boys & Girls section. Books are being supplied to the students through the HMs of the block.
